Santa Clarita’s oldest Boy Scout troop, Troop 2, is set to celebrate 100 years of history at a centennial celebration next month.

Troop 2 is the oldest scout troop in the Santa Clarita Valley, established in April of 1922, and has been meeting at Newhall Elementary School since 1934, officials said.

A celebration banquet for all Troop 2 Scouts past and present is scheduled for October 15, at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex.

Throughout its illustrious history, Troop 2 has produced 209 Eagle Scouts, the BSA’s highest rank, and anticipates adding several more this calendar year.

“We are proud of the young men we have prepared for a life of service as responsible citizens and civic-minded leaders,” officials said.

Any Troop 2 Eagle Scouts who would like to attend this centennial celebration should contact Scoutmaster Tom Hezel at the email below.

Troop 2 provides its scouts with a rich program of community service, outdoor adventures and character development.

Boys between the ages of 11-17 are always welcome to join the ranks and experience all that Troop 2 has to offer.

The Troop has attended summer camp on Catalina Island and in Big Bear, cooperated with many SCV organizations through Eagle projects, and learned the importance of Leaving No Trace in our public spaces.

If you are interested in becoming a corporate sponsor for the Troop 2 celebration please contact the Troop here.
