SCV Ninth Grader Shares Climate Journey In Short Documentary

Santa Clarita ninth grader Ismachiah Oduwole started bringing a new, entertaining spin to the global climate and sustainability awareness movement thirteen months after coming up with the fundamental and simple idea of getting two soccer balls to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Oduwole’s goal was to educate people on climate change and then have fans from dozens of countries sign and commit to doing more on sustainability and preventing the effects of climate change.

While in Qatar, Oduwole managed to have over 28 countries represented, including

world leaders in business and politics, scientists, presidents and prime ministers, all of whom signed the climate ball and pledged to do more to promote sustainability.

Some of the signers of the climate ball include the CEOs of Marriott International, Hawaii Airlines, FedEx, LOGIX Bank, Carnival Cruise Line, MGM Resorts and Ethiopian Airlines.

As well as world leaders like Irfaan Ali, president of Guyana, Wavel Ramkalawan, president of the Seychelles, Sitiveni Rabuka and prime minister of Fiji.

Because of his efforts to bring attention to the issue of climate change the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government invited Oduwole to attend the Climate Change Conferences 28 (or COP) in Dubai last year.

Oduwole was able to further his mission of promoting the use of sustainable energy to fight the battle against climate change.
