The Santa Clarita Water Agency (SCV Water) is set to host their December gardening classes, giving residents opportunities to optimize landscaping.

Next month, SCV Water is set to host two classes, the first on Thursday, Dec. 12, “Maintaining a Sustainable Landscape,” and the second on Saturday, Dec. 14, “Lawn Removal: The Basics,” according to officials. 

The weather in the Santa Clarita Valley in December is usually crisp with plenty of warm sun, according to SCV Water officials. 

“Now is a great time to do one of two things: set up a plan to maintain your landscape through the winter or make a big change for the new year — like removing your lawn in favor of more colorful and water-efficient alternatives,” SCV Water officials said. 

SCV Water has two December gardening classes designed to help attendees optimize their landscape, no matter their goal. 

The first class being offered is for residents who have had established landscaping for awhile, but want to keep it looking good, according to officials. 

On Thursday, Dec. 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 pm. those in attendance can learn methods to manage and maintain a sustainable landscape, according to officials. 

“You’ll soon find out that sustainable and efficient can still be beautiful,” SCV Water officials said.   

The second class on Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. is for residents wanting to remove their lawns, according to officials. 

“Participants will discover the best types of plants to replace grass,” officials said. 

All classes are held at SCV Water, located at 27234 Bouquet Canyon Road in Santa Clarita.
