Six Flags Magic Mountain is preparing to dismantle two of its longtime attractions, according to demolition permits filed with Los Angeles County.
One of the rides slated for removal is the 70-year-old Magic Flyer, a children’s coaster that originally operated at Beverly Park before being relocated to Magic Mountain in 1970 under a different name.
The permit describes the attraction as a “steel kids roller coaster” with an assessed value of $10,000.
Beverly Park, considered a precursor to Disneyland, operated from 1943 to 1974. Since its move to Magic Mountain, the Magic Flyer has served generations of young thrill-seekers with its steam-engine theme, 10-foot lift hill, and gentle 10-mph turns.
A separate permit requests the demolition of a “steel swing ride,” believed to be Tweety’s Escape. The attraction, valued at $10,000 and first opened in 1985.
It is not yet known what new attractions, if any, will replace the two departing rides.
