Southbound 14 Freeway Temporarily Shut Down After Two-Vehicle Crash

A two-vehicle crash has shut down portions of the southbound 14 Freeway in Acton Tuesday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Initial reports from the CHP’s traffic incident information page state the crash occurred around 8:45 p.m.

Initial reports said one vehicle was facing sideways with its rear end obstructing traffic, while a second vehicle was blocking the #1 lane off Escondido Canyon Rd and the 14 freeway.

One of the cars reportedly crashed into an embankment, while the other remained on the freeway.

Authorities say a woman, described as a mother, was initially trapped inside her vehicle, however she was able to get out of the car by the time rescue crews arrived.

Emergency crews are responding to the scene.

The extent of injuries is not yet known, and it is unclear when the affected lanes will reopen.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area because of the crash.
