Several individuals from an addiction treatment program came to The Way Out Recovery’s Saugus office Saturday morning in order to receive free dental treatment from Dr. Neal Green

“Today we are seeing patients from an in-patient residential facility in Los Angeles,” said Diane Green, coordinator for Dr. Neal Green’s dental outreach efforts in Santa Clarita. “These are patients that are in need of dental work. So they’re going to be seen today for absolutely free.”

Diane was the one who connected her husband to The Way Out Recovery, according to Program Director Bob Sharits.

“Diane contacted us and asked if they could use our facility, and if we had anybody in treatment that could use these services,” Sharits said. “So we’ve partnered up, and Dr. Green is providing free dental care for folks who can’t afford it and are in the recovery process. It’s a perfect match.”

Dr. Neal Green began offering free dental services to those in need in Santa Clarita 15 years ago, hosting free services with the Santa Clarita Homeless Shelter twice a year, according to Diane. He now puts on free outreach events regularly.

“We keep him busy,” Diane said. “I would say on average, he goes out six times a year.”

And according to Dr. Green himself, he is looking to do even more by getting better equipment.

“My desire is to acquire new, fully portable self-contained dental units that can be rolled in to an operatory space and just be plugged in, and mobile equipment carts that can be broken down and transported with great ease,” Dr. Green said in a written statement. “This would make local outreach within Santa Clarita very simple.

Diane described her husband’s 18-year-old equipment as “antiquated and cumbersome.” As a result, the pair are asking for the community’s help in raising funds for the new equipment.

“The need is so great,” Dr. Green wrote. “The new equipment is the missing piece to the puzzle to make all this come to fruition.”

Those wishing to aid in Dr. Green’s efforts can send a check payable to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, located at 27265 Luther Drive in Canyon Country, writing “For Dr. Neal C. Green Dental Outreach” in the memo line, Diane said.
