“We talked together last year to come up with (an) idea to help the homeless families that might need some warm items during the colder months,” said Kathy Gorlick, Cayden’s grandmother.

Last year, the third grader began “Cayden’s Winter Warehouse” to collect donated items for Family Promise, a nonprofit organization that serves homeless families in the Santa Clarita Valley.

“Cayden has always had a huge heart,” said Gorlick. “He cares deeply when he sees homeless people, always wanting to give them money or food.”

Cayden’s project collects socks, gloves, beanies and blankets, which are personally picked up by Cayden and his grandmother and distributed to those in need with Family Promise.

“It’s his little acts of kindness that are humbling and that teach him what’s important in the world, and that these little things can make a big difference to someone,” added Gorlick.

This year, Cayden has also partnered with Nealie’s Skillet, a Valencia café, which is set to offer 15 percent off a visit to those who make donations. The café is located at 25858 Tournament Rd. in Valencia.

To have warm clothing and blankets picked up, email Kathy Gorlick at [email protected].
