Waste Management Continues Modified Green Waste Schedule

Officials with Waste Management, the local waste pickup organization, plan to add another week to its temporary green waste pickup schedule.

Waste Management has requested an additional week for its temporary residential green waste pickup schedule for customers in Santa Clarita. Residential green waste pick-up, which normally occurs weekly, is planned to continue to take place every other week through January 29.

With newly hired drivers and the anticipation of drivers returning from quarantine, Waste Management expects to return to normal levels of service beginning Feb.1, according to an official statement from the City of Santa Clarita.

“The schedule modification means that only residential green waste carts, yard waste, will be serviced once every two weeks on their regular service day,” the statement reads. “Trash and recycling pick-up schedules are not to be affected.”

Affected residents should be notified the day before service changes using a combination of automated phone calls, emails and text messages according to each customer’s notification preferences.

Customers are currently sorted into “Week A” and “Week B” areas. Residents are encouraged to visit this site to view their service area and schedule based on the location of their residence.

The City of Santa Clarita continues to coordinate with its partner Waste Management to regularly communicate service changes to Santa Clarita residents. Waste Management customers are encouraged to provide updated contact information in order to receive service notifications and updates by email, phone call or text.

  1. What surprise!!! Subpar service

  2. I know…huge surprise right? The next “surprise” is when they will be telling us that the “modified” Green Waste schedule will be continued indefinitely.

Covid can be blamed on MANY things but a lot of these companies just use it as an excuse to cut service while at the same time raising prices.

  3. Are we going to have our rate reduced since they are not capable of providing the service we pay for? I have has a broken trash container for over a month that they say they cannot replaced because of a lack of staff. The trucks mechanism they use broke the wheels of my container. Yet I bet if I were a new customer I’d have a new container in a jiffy.
    Subpar service is right.

  4. Because Waste Management is mandated in the SCV, meaning you MUST use their ‘services’, they are able to get by providing what they think benefits them. Customer service is not among their strong points. They are quick in charging late fees even though they have cut back on what they have agreed to provide. Just give them a call saying you have had enough and that you wish to curtail their service.
They will tell you no, you cannot. They are a great example of what happens when we are saddled with a monopoly. I’ve long wished I could start a rival company aimed at not only beating but putting them out of business.
