2,472 Coronavirus COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in L.A. County, Testing Increasing

There are now  2,472 confirmed coronavirus, COVID-19, cases in Los Angeles County, officials said Monday.

A total of 342 new coronavirus, COVID-19, cases have been confirmed in Los Angeles County, according to Dr. Barbara Ferrer, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

In addition to the newly reported cases, Ferrer also confirmed that there have been seven additional deaths as a result of COVID-19.

“We need to be prepared for this to go on for awhile to come,” said Ferrer. “Please if you’re out and about, make sure that it is only for essential services and that you’re not gathering with other people at any time.”

The newly reported deaths bring the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Los Angeles County to 44. That translates to a 1.8 percent mortality rate among those that test positive for COVID-19 in the county.

As of Monday, 15,500 people in the county have been tested, but testing capacity remains limited, according to Ferrer.

Access to testing remains limited to those that are symptomatic or have been in contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19.

Residents are recommended to stay at home if they are “non-essential” workers and continue to practice social distancing measures.

Los Angeles County coronavirus cases are expected to continue to rise as access to testing increases, according to public health officials.

  1. You are not ill with the CV-19 virus because:
You stayed home as much as possible.
You watch carefully over your family to make certain they are following healthy practices.
    You wash your hands frequently.
You wear a face mask when at the store.
You touched little as possible at the store.
You clean your hands with sanitizer after exiting the store.
You have avoided close contact with others.
    You paid attention.
    You survived.

  2. You listened to doctors and scientists.
You disregarded ‘gut feelings’ and the need to be right
You listened to facts not fiction
You followed common sense rules and thought of others beside yourself
You did not believe this was a hoax
You thanked Gov Newsome for putting the safety of Californians before his ego
You know the difference between a temporary hardship and life and death
You know a lie from the truth
