Additional COVID-19 Death Reported At Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital 

An additional COVID-19 death has been confirmed at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Monday, marking the 15th death at the hospital, with 137 patients recovered and discharged, officials said. 

Monday’s confirmed death brings the death total for the Santa Clarita Valley to at least 32, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

Due to patient privacy laws, the age and any information regarding underlying health conditions about the patient are unable to be released, according to Patrick Moody, spokesperson for Henry Mayo.

As of Monday, Henry Mayo has conducted 4,316 COVID-19 tests. Of those, 454 have tested positive, and 484 tests are still pending with Henry Mayo, according to Moody.

There are 15 patients in the hospital as of Monday, while 137 patients have been discharged since the hospital’s first case was reported in March, according to the hospital.

As of Sunday, a total of 3,572 cumulative cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Santa Clarita Valley since testing began in March. These include:

  • 1,548 in the City of Santa Clarita*
  • 54 in the unincorporated areas of Canyon Country
  • 1,819 in Castaic*
  • One in unincorporated Sand Canyon
  • 10 in the unincorporated areas of Saugus
  • 80 in Stevenson Ranch
  • 22 in the unincorporated areas of Valencia
  • 34 in the unincorporated areas of Val Verde
  • Three in the unincorporated areas of Newhall
  • One in the unincorporated areas of Bouquet Canyon

*As of  Monday, July 12, officials had recorded 1,318 cumulative cases among prisoners at the North County Correctional Facility, and 493 at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center. Those cases are counted in both the City of Santa Clarita and Castaic totals.
