COC Replaces Magic Mountain As Santa Clarita COVID-19 Vaccination Site

On Monday, College of the Canyons (COC) began operating as one of Los Angeles County’s COVID-19 vaccination sites located in Santa Clarita.

Following the closure of Six Flags Magic Mountain’s vaccine site on April 18, L.A. County announced the opening of a vaccination clinic located on the Valencia campus of COC.

Both College of the Canyons and Palmdale Oasis Park Recreation Center have now begun functioning as County-operated vaccination sites in the northern part of Los Angeles County, according to L.A. County officials.

The new vaccination clinic is reportedly located in Lot 7 of COC’s Valencia campus, next to the football stadium, and is listed as open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Those with a vaccine appointment at COC are recommended to park near the college’s football stadium, close to the campus parking structure.

The COC and Palmdale Oasis Park Recreation Center vaccination sites reportedly have the ability to administer up to 2,000 vaccinations per day and provide walk-up appointment options.

Before COC’s vaccination clinic, Magic Mountain’s vaccination site began operating in January 2021, with approximately 129,000 vaccines administered at that site.

“The partnership with Six Flags Magic Mountain has proven invaluable to the County’s vaccination efforts, as the site provided vaccine to so many residents living in our hardest-hit communities,” said Dr. Barbara Ferrer, Director of L.A. Public Health. “We are forever grateful for their partnership, and are committed to providing vaccines to northern Los Angeles County residents through these two additional sites.”

Both COC’s clinic and Palmdale’s Oasis Park Recreation Center are designed to centrally serve residents from both the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valley communities.

The remaining large-scale sites operated by the County are:

  • Pomona Fairplex in Pomona
  • The Forum in Inglewood
  • California State University, Northridge
  • L.A. County Office of Education in Downey

In addition, two smaller-scale, walk-up sites are also operated by the County.

L.A. County residents are able to confirm their eligibility and make their vaccination appointments for sites such as those at COC by using the website linked here.
