Since the first week of December, deaths at Henry Mayo have increased by over 50%, from 39 to 65, while hospitalizations have increased, from 52 to 86, according to a comparison of data released by Henry Mayo.

As of Thursday, Dec. 24, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has conducted 14,709 COVID-19 tests. Of those, 2,195 have tested positive, and 16 tests are still pending with Henry Mayo, according to Moody.

There are 85 patients in the hospital as of Thursday, Dec. 24, while 602 patients have been discharged since the hospital’s first case was reported in March, according to the spokesperson.

On Monday, public health officials reported Los Angeles County has reached over 9,000 COVID-19 deaths, urging residents to stay home for the holidays amid the highest surge since the beginning of the pandemic.

“ Our actions have an impact on the health and well-being of many people in our county, and not following the public health rules has deadly consequences. The virus has spread across the entire county and everyone, employers and residents, need to be extra vigilant in their precautions to protect themselves and others,” said Dr. Barbara Ferrer, director of public health. “This is not the time to crowd at stores, to attend parties and gatherings, or to travel. If every person can find it in themselves to celebrate the meaning of the holidays by protecting each other from the virus, we have a chance to stop the surge.”

Wednesday marked the highest one-day number of COVID-19 deaths across Los Angeles County an additional 16,525 coronavirus cases were reported in Los Angeles County on Wednesday, along with 145 deaths, according to public health.

  1. That’s why we all call it “Killer Mayo”! You check in, but you don’t check out! ?

    • That is such an unfair and untrue statement. Look at the odds – and the data alone shows they have a highly successful release of patients who come in. I’m one of them. They are doctors and nurses doing their best. This is NOT the time to sit in judgement when they are at work, at risk and exposed to this virus that EVERYONE else gets to stay at home and avoid. THANK YOU to ALL at Henry Mayo – 99% of us support you and understand the hard work you do.

  2. What areas & what people are causing another massive outbreak!? Please tell the truth/facts to help all of our neighbors!! Stop the cover-up!!

  3. That’s funny considering churches, restaurants, barber shops/salons have been closed for a while and schools haven’t opened since last February.
So where are these infected people coming from oh that’s right it’s just a Media Made Hysteria!
Could it be that people aren’t washing their hands, after all the Regular Flu took the whole year off.

  4. What a STUPID reply…shame on you

  5. Obviously Karen is a liberal lunatic. How many people attend that church (I doubt without masks) that you think are Covid positive running around spreading the virus? How do you know people have gathered at that church without masks if you haven’t left your house? Go back to drinking your Newsome wine and watch the traffic in and out of your local Walmart’s

  6. What’s the matter with you obviously uneducated people on the virus?!!! It’s been killing people for almost a year. Media hysteria? What channel are you watching to form uneducated opinions. Try researching. If you haven’t lost a loved one, you are lucky. People are getting sick because life is so hard with computers, TV, the luxuries of home that some incredibly selfish people continue to socialize then infect others.

  7. THANK you to all the staff, Doctors, Nurses, etc who work at Henry Mayo during this terrible pandemic. THANK YOU!
