L.A. County Partners With ‘Headspace’ App To Provide Free Mental Health Resources

The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health has partnered with the mental health wellness app “Headspace” to provide free mental health resources and exercises during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Headspace, a mental health wellness app, is now being offered for free to Los Angeles County residents to provide them with resources such as meditation, movement exercises and sleep “experiences.”

“Mental health care is needed in every aspect of life,” wrote Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “Courtesy of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, you can download the Headspace app for free and access resources to help you rest, think, move, and eat better.”

Headspace is an app with mindfulness and meditation exercises that are meant to be a source of strength and comfort. The app offers a new “Weathering the Storm” selection of exercises to help deal with the added stress of the coronavirus pandemic.

“L.A., we’re all going through the current crisis together,” reads the Headspace site. “To help you weather this storm, Headspace and the L.A. County Department of Mental Health have partnered to provide support and resources during this challenging time.”

To take advantage of the free Headspace subscription, users must physically be in Los Angeles County when they sign up.

The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health can provide additional support at any time by calling 800-854-7771 or visiting their site.
