The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health) released the latest data on COVID-19 cases in the County on Sunday.
The number of cases and deaths are likely to reflect reporting delays over the weekend, Public Health noted.
Five new deaths and 1,322 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were announced by Public Health Sunday.
L.A. County has experienced 1,444,127 positive cases and 25,832 deaths since the onset of the pandemic, with 1,070 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Sunday.
Nearly 8,450,000 individuals have been tested in L.A. County with 16% of people testing positive, according to Public Health.
As of Sunday, Sept.19, 33,986 cumulative cases have been reported in the Santa Clarita Valley since March of 2020, according to Public Health. These cases include:
- 25,888 in the City of Santa Clarita* (+41)
- 62 in the unincorporated areas of Bouquet Canyon
- 1,109 in the unincorporated areas of Canyon Country (+2)
- 4,322 in Castaic* (+10)
- 70 in the unincorporated areas of Newhall
- 4 in Placerita Canyon
- 18 in San Francisquito/Bouquet Canyon
- 22 in unincorporated Sand Canyon
- 160 in the unincorporated areas of Saugus
- 47 in the unincorporated areas of Saugus/Canyon Country (+1)
- 1,606 in Stevenson Ranch (+1)
- 414 in the unincorporated areas of Val Verde
- 264 in the unincorporated areas of Valencia (+1)
*As of Saturday, Sept. 18, public health officials have recorded 2,182 cumulative cases at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center, including 1,577 at the North County Correctional Facility. Those cases are distributed between both the City of Santa Clarita and Castaic totals.
Since March of 2020, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has recorded 165 deaths due to coronavirus. A total of 315 persons in the Santa Clarita Valley have died due to coronavirus as of Saturday, according to Public Health.
Public Health encourages everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated. Anyone 12 and older living or working in L.A. County can get vaccinated against COVID-19. Many vaccination sites across the county, including all the County-run sites, are also offering third doses of vaccine to eligible immunocompromised people. Vaccinations are always free and open to eligible residents and workers regardless of immigration status.
