Less Than 1,000 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In L.A. County

Less than 1,000 new cases of COVID-19 were reported within Los Angeles County Monday, marking the second such time for low numbers to have been reported over the past week.

An additional 987 COVID-19 cases were reported in Los Angeles County on Monday, along with 32 deaths.

This brings the county’s cumulative total to 1,192,895 positive cases of COVID-19 and 21,467 deaths since the onset of the pandemic, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LADPH).

“We’ve not yet seen any increases due to gatherings that may have happened during the Super Bowl and President’s Day weekend,” said Dr. Barbara Ferrer, LAPDH director. “We are moving in the right direction, a direction that will hopefully lead to more of our young people to go back to school for outside learning.”

Testing results are available for over 5,830,000 people, with a cumulative 19 percent of people testing positive.

Los Angeles County remains in the most restrictive purple tier in the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy. In order to move into the red tier and have additional opportunities for re-openings, L.A. County’s daily case rate must be at or below 7 new cases per 100,000 people and the County’s test positivity rate must be at or below 8%.

As of Tuesday, Feb. 23, L.A. County’s adjusted case rate is 12.3 new cases per 100,000 people.

The Southern California Region has 19.5% staffed adult ICU capacity remaining as of the state’s last update on Tuesday, Feb. 23, according to state health officials.

Residents are encouraged to continue to prevent the spread of COVID-19, to not gather in crowds, stay home when sick, wear a face covering and maintain physical distance from others when outside of the home.

A travel advisory remains in effect for L.A. County. Anyone who is arriving in Los Angeles County must self-quarantine for 10 days. Residents are asked to remain at home or lodging for 10 days and avoid contact with others.

  1. Dr. Barbara Ferrer seems a little disappointed that “We’ve not yet seen any increases due to gatherings that ‘may’ have happened during the Super Bowl and President’s Day weekend,”

however, the news just keeps getting better, in-case you missed it

Speaking on Sunday morning talk shows, Fauci told “State of the Union” host Dana Bash,
“One of the things that I think is going to become clear is that ‘if’ you have adults who are vaccinated that you can have dinner in a home without masks on.
And that you can also have friends over who are doubly vaccinated and protected with you,” he added.
“So you can start doing things essentially in the home setting where you are not out in the community.”
    In another interview,

Fauci told “This Week” host George Stephanopoulous.
“That some Israeli studies have shown that the level of virus of vaccinated people is extremely low,
If that’s the case and our future studies show that it’s that low, then we’ll be pulling back on some of the restrictions”.
When asked about reducing some safety measures, such as cutting social distancing from six to three feet, Fauci refused to give any guidance.

Question is, what will be his position tomorrow?
    Another day, another Fauci story.
    “/sarc.”

  2. Yes they really like the current panic state of affairs. There will always be risk and Fauci and other position is 0 risk upon which a society can not function. Note that despite the wide range of reactions and lockdown policies, the covid curve has been nearly identical around the world. This virus moves at its will despite what politicians decide. Openings up posed very little additional risk and yet CA is determined to remain closed as long as they can. even now, too many people are going along with it.
