Workplace Masking Remains In California Pending Cal/OSHA Vote, Including Santa Clarita

The state of California has new guidelines for reopening that went into effect Tuesday, but workers are still required to wear masks indoors pending guideline updates from the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA).

The guidelines from the state of California would only require workers who are unvaccinated to wear masks, but Cal/OSHA is not set to vote on implementing the same guidelines until Thursday.

If Cal/OSHA were to implement guidelines allowing vaccinated workers to remain unmasked, Governor Gavin Newsom has stated he would sign an executive order putting the guidelines into effect Thursday.

If approved, the guidelines would also require employers to provide face coverings to employees who request them.

Newsom has said workplaces could use an honor system to verify vaccination status of employees, with staff who claim to be vaccinated permitted to work without masks.

However, the California Department of Industrial Relations, which encompasses Cal/OSHA, has said employees must provide proof of vaccination before being allowed to remove their masks.

Reopening guidelines have ended a majority of coronavirus restrictions, including physical distancing, capacity limits and county tiers, according to officials with California’s government.

Pandemic travel guidelines in California have been lifted, but CDC travel requirements are still in effect, representatives said.

Guidance for K-12 schools and childcare programs are still in place, officials said.

Those attending mega-events, or indoor events with 5,000 or more people and outdoor events with over 10,000 people, are required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative coronavirus status to attend an indoor event. It is recommended but not required that the same be done for outdoor events, representatives said.

Masking is still required in hospitals, long-term care facilities, homeless shelters, on public transit and indoors in K-12 schools, childcare and other facilities with many children, according to the state of California.

A guide for when to use masks can be found here.

  1. It is unfortunate and really a shame that the CDC has lost all credibility, and soon to be joined by (Cal/OSHA) for over 15 months we never heard a word from Cal/OSHA, nothing.
These folks seemed to forget that the vaccines were authorized by the FDA for “Emergency Use”, you know sort of like Newsoms “state of emergency” he will not let go of,
Cal/OSHA, if the state is safe enough to reopen, then it’s safe for people to be able to make decisions for themselves without your arbitrary rules.
The radical left truly has perfected moving the goal post.

  2. So Cal-OSHA wants to now segregate the vaccinated from the un-vaccinated. Well this is only going to make the un-vaccinated targets. Everyone will be able to clearly see by the wearing of masks particularly in the workplace who isn’t vaccinated. I’m not comfortable with this. It seems to me that OSHA will be breaking some HIPPA laws. Forcing un-vaccinated people to wear masks while other don’t and by doing this revealing to others they are un-vaccinated which is nobody’s business. Due to medical conditions I will not get the shot that is being called a vaccination, that is causing horrible side effects particularly in women. I will not sign a waiver of my medical rights to take the experimental vaccination not approved of by the FDA. Since this ‘vaccine’ isn’t FDA approved how is it that Cal-OSHA can even back it? I am not happy that the owner of the company I work at is constantly pressuring me to get the vaccine purposely trying to demean me for not doing so and making me reveal my medical history as to why I won’t get the shot.

  3. The California Governor is a Joke ” Vaccine Lottery ”’ MR ”’Do As I Say” Not As I Do”” Cal OSHA has lost all credibility”” Politics at its best. “” Wake Up People!!!
