A 16-year-old who was stabbed after he allegedly robbed a young boy last month in Newhall was arrested earlier this week.
On Tuesday, detectives with the Career Offenders, Burglary Robbery and Assault, (COBRA) Team arrested the 16-year-old who was stabbed after robbing a 14-year-old near the SCV Boys & Girls Club on April 26 of this year on Newhall Avenue, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Back on April 26, the 16-year-old and another suspect approached a 14-year-old and stole his jewelry.
“During investigation, deputies learned two male juveniles confronted the (14-year-old) and forcefully took a piece of jewelry from his person. A brief struggle ensued in which the victim brandished a knife, used to assault one of the suspects,” Arriaga said. “One suspect was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries, but in stable condition.”
Shortly after the stabbing, the 14-year-old was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon, according to Sheriff’s officials.
Earlier this month the 16-year-old was released from the hospital and booked into Juvenile Hall in Sylmar for felony robbery, Arriaga added.
Initial reports were that there were two robbery suspects, however, detectives have not been able to link a second person of interest as of Thursday. Any witnesses are encouraged to contact the SCV Sheriff’s Station at 661-260-4000.
