18-Year-Old With Loaded Firearm Within Reach Arrested During Santa Clarita Traffic Stop

An 18-year-old man was arrested during a Santa Clarita traffic stop last week when detectives located a loaded firearm within immediate reach of the driver.

While patrolling Valencia around 12:30 a.m. Friday, Career Offender, Burglary, Robbery, Assault (COBRA Team)  detectives initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle not adhering to vehicle code on the 23900 block of Windward Lane in Valencia, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“While on a traffic stop, detectives detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana emitting from inside the car, and observed a nitrous bottle,” Arriaga said. “While speaking with the driver, they noticed he repeatedly reached towards the floorboard.”

Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle during the traffic stop and found a loaded firearm within immediate reach of the driver’s seat, according to officials.

“Records indicated the firearm was not registered and had actually been reported lost,” Arriaga said.

Julian Gonzales, 18, from Canyon Country, was arrested for carrying a stolen loaded firearm before being transported to the SCV Sheriff’s Station where he remains in custody in lieu of $35,000 bail.

  1. Wow remains in custody. Gascon will not be happy about that though CalEPA will be thrilled a dude with Nitrous is off the street. Tough call for them. If only the MJ ignited the nitrous……..

  2. Gonzalez with the stolen gun is nothing compared to the Nitrous exploding and making Global Warming even worse killing the entire world! Run, hide—don’t cook, Bar-B-Q, use shower water, only drink corporate bottled water because they care about the societies, mask up, follow what the Elite Liberals say, get a discount ride on Al Gore & John Kerry’s private jets, our societies will be safe with an honest & pure behaviors!

  3. That’s a Beretta 950 Jetfire in .25ACP. Whatever else happens, at least the Sheriff’s department got that gun off the street. Drugs and guns are a lethal combination.

Was the nitrous oxide for automotive performance or inhalation?
