An abandoned vehicle that was found crashed in the Grapevine Wednesday may be linked to a carjacking in the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) area.
Around 7 a.m. Wednesday, officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a call of a crashed vehicle on the 5 Freeway near Templin Highway north of Castaic, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.
“We responded, no person was located associated with the vehicle and no witnesses,” Greengard said. “We towed the vehicle, and a few hours later, LAPD called and inquired about the incident because it was a vehicle of interest from a prior incident they had.”
The vehicle, initially identified as a grey or silver Toyota, was possibly connected to a carjacking within the LAPD’S area, according to the CHP logs.
As of the publication of this article, the LAPD was unable to provide any information on the case.
