Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Bureau are seeking additional victims of a Palmdale man arrested on suspicion of at least two rapes, including in Stevenson Ranch.

Luis Humberto Chinchilla Mejia, 41, of Palmdale, was arrested last Friday in connection with a March 3, 2024, rape in Palmdale, Sgt. Joseph Mesa of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Bureau said in a previous KHTS story.

Between March 3, 2024, and May 17, 2024, Mejia targeted one female victim on Sierra Highway and Avenue R-8 in Palmdale, and another female victim on the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road in Stevenson Ranch, according to the LASD.

“Both females were lured into his vehicle and sexually assaulted. Based on the nature of the offenses, Detectives believe there might be additional victims,” read a Tuesday statement.

Mejia was arrested in connection with the crimes on Aug. 1, 2025, and booked into the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station. Mejia’s bail is set at $1,200,000.
