A threat allegedly made by a student at Placerita Junior High School on Wednesday has been deemed noncredible by Hart District officials and law enforcement, although information is still being sought in connection with the purported incident.
The threat was allegedly made by a student after school hours on Wednesday, according to John Turner, principal of Placerita Junior High School.
“This afternoon after school, we received some information about a student allegedly making a threat to some other students in class,” Turner said in an email to Placerita Jr. High School families. “Any time this happens we have a specific protocol that we follow including the completion of an assessment and notifying law enforcement.”
Deputy Robert Jensen, the School Resource Officer and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were involved as part of Hart District efforts to determine the extent of the threat, according to officials.
“At this time we do not believe there is any credible threat and some things that have been reported were exaggerated as they spread from student to student,” Turner said in the email to parents. “We want to thank everyone that has contacted us with questions because it is always best if you hear or see something, please say something.”
The Student Care Line is available if parents or students want to report anything of concern. The number is (661) 282-7522. You may text information or questions to that line.
“As always, safety is our top priority,” Turner said.
