Around 12 p.m. Monday, deputies received reports of a stabbing near Home Depot on Newhall Ranch Road in Valencia, said Deputy Mariela Picard, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“During the incident, the victim… and suspect… exited their vehicles,” Picard said. “The suspect reportedly then physically assaulted the victim with a knife and fled the scene.”
Through field investigation, deputies located the suspect, Michael Cantu, 34, from Saugus in the 26400 block of Bouquet Canyon Road, according to Picard.
Cantu was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon, according to Picard.
Cantu was transported and booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, and remains in custody on $30,000.00 bail as of Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was transported to the hospital for his injuries. His condition was not released to the media.

Whatever happened to the 3 Strikes rule in California? It seems like we now have endless strikes with crime totally out of control!
So true! With leaders like Newsome and Bass and our Democratically controlled state, it’s going to be hard to be tough on crime. Seems like the criminals are the ones they have compassion for instead of the law abiding citizens.
I guess I missed in the article where the suspect has priors.
