Bus Passenger Arrested At Gunpoint After Making Criminal Threats At Valencia Mall

A passenger on a Santa Clarita Valley Transit bus was arrested on felony criminal threats charges Tuesday after he allegedly stated he was armed with a firearm at the Valencia mall.

Around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a business at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall on the 24200 block of Valencia Boulevard regarding a possible assault with a deadly weapon involving a possible firearm, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The call stated a male adult had made verbal threats while inside the business and was last seen entering a Santa Clarita City Bus,” Arriaga said.

The bus was located and stopped on Magic Mountain Parkway and Town Center Drive, where deputies were able to detain a man matching the suspect description on the bus without incident, according to Arriaga.

“The male detained was positively identified as the suspect from the incident by the victims,” Arriaga said.

Deputies searched the suspect and his property, however, no firearm was found, according to officials.

Robert White, 34, from Canyon Country was arrested on one felony count of criminal threats, Arriaga added.

White was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest records.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
