Canyon Country Elder Abuse Suspect Arrested After Assaulting ‘Elderly Woman’

An elder abuse suspect was arrested Thursday on a slew of felony charges after he allegedly physically assaulted and threatened an “elderly woman” in Canyon Country.

Around 1:15 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to the 30600 block of The Old Dirt Road in Canyon Country regarding a family disturbance call, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon arrival, deputies learned during a verbal dispute, the suspect physically assaulted an elderly female adult and also made verbal threats against the victims,” Arriaga said.

The suspect additionally tampered with a safe storing multiple firearms and ammunition within the home, according to Arriaga.

David Golden, 45, from Canyon Country, was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, elder abuse and criminal threats, all felonies, Arriaga added.

Golden was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $200,000, according to arrest records.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
