Two suspects remain at large after they allegedly stole a camping trailer and other items from two victims in Castaic early Friday morning.
Around 4 a.m. Friday, deputies received reports of a stolen camper trailer on the 28600 block of Cloverleaf Place in Castaic, said Deputy Robert Jensen, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The victim witnessed his trailer being stolen by two men driving a Ford pickup truck, according to Jensen.
After receiving a notification of motion on a Ring Camera, the owner attempted to stop the theft.
When the victim located the suspects on the next street over, he blocked the thieves in with his vehicle. The suspects then crashed into the victim’s truck before fleeing the neighborhood, the victim told KHTS.
Deputies later located the suspects’ truck with the stolen trailer on San Francisquito Canyon Road, according to Jensen.
When deputies attempted to make contact with the suspects, the trailer detached from the truck for unknown reasons as the suspects fled north “towards Palmdale,” Jensen said.
The trailer was recovered and returned to the victim.
Around the same time the camper trailer was taken Friday morning, another theft occurred on Greenwood Place, which runs parallel to Cloverleaf Place.
The suspects broke into a Ford F-350 and stole unknown items, according to Sheriff’s officials.
Other residents in the Bravo/Encore neighborhood reportedly caught the suspects attempting to open car doors.
Sheriff’s officials remind all residents to follow the 9 p.m. routine and ensure all doors to your car, garage and home are locked.
