A mother who was arrested in April for intentionally crashing into another vehicle with three children inside had her felony child endangerment charges declined and is facing two misdemeanors, officials said Wednesday.
Sandra Rivota, 38, of Palmdale, was arrested on Saturday, April 25 for allegedly intentionally driving her vehicle into the victim’s vehicle, which was parked in his driveway, causing damage, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at the time of the incident.
Rivota is being charged with one misdemeanor count of vandalism, after she was originally expected to be charged with a felony, and one count of misdemeanor hit-and-run driving resulting in property damage, said Ricardo Santiago, a spokesperson with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

At the time of the arrest, Rivota was expected to also face felony child endangerment, however, those charges were declined, according to officials.
“Child endangerment charges were declined due to insufficient evidence,” Santiago said. “Child endangerment charges were not reduced because they were never filed.”
When Rivota crashed her car, her three children, ages 4, 6 and 11, were passengers in her vehicle, according to Miller.
“The victim and the suspect were known to each other,” Miller said.
The children were released to the custody of a Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services social worker, Miller said.
Rivota is scheduled to be arraigned on May 23 at the San Fernando Courthouse, according to Santiago.

Yep, RIVOTA of Palmdale, what a POS !! Bad enough to do by yourself, but with kids in car!! What a wonderful teacher for her children of societies future—what gang will they end up joining?!
We are never gonna join any gang for your information, she has been a wonderful mom up until this point, I know she did something completely wrong, (I WAS THERE.), and am not afraid to tell her that she is wrong when she is. I am not a momma’s boy, what she did was wrong. I know. But that does not warrant a comment like this. We have been raised correctly, I can guarantee you that we will NEVER join a gang or even THINK about doing so. Good day Sir/Ma’am
