A driver of a white pick up truck allegedly hit an on-duty LAPD motorcycle officer’s vehicle on purpose, driving into the back of the officer’s vehicle on the Interstate 5 freeway near Castaic Wednesday morning, according to CHP officials.

“We have no doubt this was an intentional act,” said CHP Capt. Edward Krusey during a news conference. “The officer was in full uniform on an LAPD motorcycle. It should have been extremely obvious to the person. Obviously, the suspect is outstanding, so we don’t know what his train of thought was at the time of the incident.”

The 28-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department was on duty in route to work, said Alfonso Lopez, an LAPD captain and commanding officer of the Central Traffic Division for the department.

The officer was able to maintain his position on the motorcycle and was able to make it over to the shoulder and stop, according to Lopez.

“He allowed his training to react and he performed adequately,” said Lopez

The officer has been riding a motorcycle for 12 years and LAPD motorcycle officers go through extensive training, Lopez noted.

The scene occurred from Parker Road and Hasley Canyon Road, covering multiple lanes, said Krusey.

The officer was taken to the hospital for non-threatening injuries and has already been released, said Krusey.

The officers urged that if anyone had witnessed anything from the scene or had cameras active used to monitor traffic collisions to review the footage and report any information to 661-294-5540.

The officer was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, according to CHP officer Eric Priessman.

“It’s a felony hit and run per witnesses, said CHP Sgt. Miler. “We’re looking for a white Toyota pickup.”

“[The injuries] don’t seem to be life threatening, said Miler. “He’s going to make it.”

The hit and run incident was reported at 9:33 a.m. and CHP officers arrived on scene by 9:45 a.m.

  1. I wonder if this is more fallout from the Democrats’ anti-cop crusade. If I was a moto cop this is exactly what I would dread.

    • “Democrats anti-cop crusade” ???!! Where in the world of you get your information ??? Read more factual news articles, please. This type of crazy generalization is what divides our nation.

  2. Seriously… Why do some always feel the need to make everything an “us vs them” issue? Guess what??? A**holes come in all shapes, sizes, colors, religions, and political parties. What this guy did was wrong, plain and simple. I don’t think anybody is arguing that fact. I am so happy to know the office will be okay.

  3. Step 1: The Liberal Democrat-run media loudly trumpets the news for weeks every time a minority gets shot by the police.
Step 2: The Democrats in government then grandly persecute police (or in the Freddie Gray case, prosecute). As Hillary said “it’s been outraging to see the constant stories of young men who have been killed by police officers.”
Step 3: Democrats watch as five cops are ambushed and murdered in Dallas, and many more elsewhere in the country while still applauding the BLM movement even as they riot in places like Milwaukee and Ferguson.
Step 4: When someone points out “hey, you’re getting cops attacked and killed” the Democrats all say “hey, don’t politicize this! Stop being so divisive! The attacks on police are just random violence, they have nothing at all to do with what we’re saying…” When an LAPD cop gets run over and nearly killed it’s “nothing to see here, that guy was just some random jerk. Why do you feel the need to even mention it?”

You’re wrong, Disgusting, there’s a whole section of our society that applaud and tweet their support every time a cop gets attacked. Baloney, you’re entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.
