Colorado Springs Man Assaults Deputy, Arrested In Fast Food Drive-Thru

A Colorado Springs man was taken into custody Saturday in a Jack in the Box drive-thru after he allegedly assaulted a deputy in Stevenson Ranch.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to the 24800 block of Pico Canyon Road in Stevenson Ranch regarding a business disturbance call, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon arrival, deputies confirmed a man outside the business was refusing to leave after being asked several times by employees,” Arriaga said.

The suspect was reportedly panhandling and disturbing customers, according to Sheriff’s reports.

“Deputies contacted the suspect, who was uncooperative,” Arriaga said. “As the deputies attempted to detain the male, a brief struggle ensued, during which the suspect physically assaulted a deputy.”

The suspect managed to escape and fled on foot.

Deputies conducted an immediate search of the area and located the suspect in the drive-thru of the Jack in the Box on the 24800 block of Pico Canyon Road, Arriaga said..

Deputies detained the suspect without incident.

“During a search of the suspect, deputies located an edged weaponed sharpened on both ends,” Arriaga said.

Javon Banks, 25, from Colorado Springs, was ultimately arrested for battery on a peace officer, obstruct/resist peace officer, carry conceal dagger and trespass-refuse to leave property, Arriaga said.

The deputy sustained minor injury from the altercation, however was cleared on scene.

Banks was booked into the SCV Sheriff’s Station after proper medical clearance as a precaution, and remains in custody as of Tuesday morning, Arriaga said.

  1. “weaponed sharpened on both ends”
They meant sharpened on both sides, not ends. Such a knife is a deep stabbing and organ damaging blade which cannot be carried concealed, and identifies the bearer of malicious intent.

  2. Always the same people!

  3. After all the free taxpayer schools from K-12, free breakfast/lunch/?dinner, welfare, food/rent handouts, these constant horrible behaviors/lifestyles continue! Unbelievable, Thanks Liberals! Wake up, not Woke up Sheeple!

  4. Max, it’s not just to condone bad behaviors by blaming other innocent people!

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
