Santa Clarita store owners in Newhall are searching for a woman who has been paying for items with counterfeit bills.
In Newhall, Teacision manager Boston Yoon first became aware of the alleged fraud when his employee drew his attention to a $100 bill that the tea shop had just received from a customer, who was now waiting for her drink to be served.
After checking the bill and confirming that it was a fake, Yoon approached the suspect and requested that she return the change she had been given for her fake bill. She refused.
After being confronted by Yoon, the woman ran outside where a male accomplice was waiting in his car, according to the store owner.
“I grabbed her, we almost got in a fight, but when he came up I let her go,” said Yoon. “For $100, when they might have a weapon or something? No. So I let her go and they drove off.”
After the woman escaped, Yoon spoke to the manager of Sam’s Flaming Grill next door, who had come out to investigate the commotion. The manager recognized the woman from a previous incident a few weeks ago, when she had come in and paid with yet another counterfeit bill.
“This situation, where they are taking advantage of stores so close to one another,” Yoon said. “They probably live in the area and I am hoping someone will recognize them.”

This has been occuring for years! I fault the business for not implementing procedures to train staff on how to check for counterfeit currency. The most common are twenties and the old style hundreds. Now the fraudsters are coming in with fake hundreds with the new design – and they look so bad that anyone should be able to tell right away.
It takes just a few moments to train your employees what to look for – and as a business to minimize your losses.
I hope the fraudster(s) are caught soon.
Also, for your own and employees safety, why are you chasing after the crooks? You put your own life in jeopardy. They or their accomplice may have a weapon, and probably not afraid to use it. Let it go and write off the loss. Let the Sheriff’s department handle catching the crooks.

That looks like local resident Mariana Flick. That entire family is a disaster I wouldn’t be surprised if it was her at all and the man who helped her excape is probably her husband.
Sounds like the Armenian Mafia/gypsy MO—good ole immigration!
Is that Trish from Santa Clarita DCFS ?
Louie: Ladies don’t behave that way!! That behavior sounds like the Gypsy/Armenian Mafia who spread throughout Europe to here! Watch out for pickpockets, how does anyone think she would be selling a fake gold chain at a gas station!?! Scam
