Colton Ford, 29, faces one count of attempted willful, deliberate and premeditated murder with an allegation that the defendant inflicted great bodily injury upon a victim 70 years of age or older, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Two good Samaritans cycling on the path — including a retired police officer — reportedly witnessed the assault and detained Ford until deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrived at the scene.
The victim, whose identity is not being released, was transported to a local hospital and was listed in fair condition.
If convicted, Ford faces a possible maximum sentence of 20 years to life in state prison. Bail is scheduled at more than $1 million, District’s Attorney’s office officials said.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Santa Clarita Station.

Now he’ll have a home.
Mental illness is no joke. It’s a shame this woman had to be terrorized like this. I see our homeless population seems to be growing and wonder what city officials are going to do to get them the assistance needed.
