A Valencia man who sexually assaulted multiple children was sentenced to several years behind bars and subsequent probation in Maine Thursday.
Avery Miller, 28, from Valencia, was sentenced to seven years behind bars and 12 years of probation, after being found guilty on six of eight sexual assault charges, according to officials with the Androscoggin Unified Criminal Court in Maine.
In addition, Miller must register as a sex offender, participate in counseling, and comply with a restraining order to stay away from the victims’ homes, workplaces and schools, according to court documents.
Miller is also no longer able to be in contact with anyone under the age of 18, or visit parks, playgrounds, schools, fairgrounds, arcades, recreational/amusement parks or view or possess any obscene/sexual explicit material, according to court documents.
“Thank you to our amazing team Kate Bozeman, Courtney, Detective Bell, Children’s Advocacy of Androscoggin, Paula, Mrs. Donna and Liz from Kids Therapist,” Michael Grant, the father of the victims said. “They did an amazing job standing up for and supporting our family through a traumatic three years. Thank you from the bottom of our family’s hearts.”

Back in May of 2019, Miller was caught sexually assaulting a friend’s 5-year-old daughter in Auburn, Maine, launching the family into a nightmare that ballooned into a multistate child sexual assault investigation.
Miller denied the sexual assault accusations, and within a few weeks, was coincidentally arrested after a traffic stop.
A police officer had pulled Miller over because his car’s registration had expired in 2017. The subsequent background check revealed that Miller had a warrant out for his arrest from Jerome County, Idaho. Miller was immediately extradited to face charges over 2,700 miles away in Jerome County, Idaho.
Miller served six months in an Idaho jail until he plead guilty to the assault of a child there in October 2019. Soon after, detectives from Auburn traveled to Idaho to collect Miller for their own investigation.
On May 19, 2022, Miller was found guilty on six of eight felony counts of unlawful sexual contact for his crimes against the Grant children, according to Androscoggin County court documents
“The two other charges were dropped because one of my daughters broke down and was not able to testify,” Grant said.
Due to Miller traveling through the country for work over the past several years, Grant is afraid that there are more of Miller’s sexual assault victims that have not yet come forward, and encourages them or their families to contact local law enforcement to seek justice.
