Deputies Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect After Pursuit In Newhall

Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrested a suspect wanted in connection with an armed and dangerous robbery following a pursuit through Newhall on Thursday.

While SCV Sheriff Deputies patrolling the area, deputies spotted a vehicle tied to the wanted suspect. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply, speeding to nearly 80 miles per hour and weaving recklessly through city streets.

Concerned for public safety, deputies made the decision to pull back from the pursuit rather than risk a collision or injury to bystanders.

However, the incident didn’t end there.

A few hours later, the station’s Juvenile Intervention Team (JAG Team) located the suspect in Granada Hills. Working together, deputies safely apprehended the individual on a felony warrant.

“This case highlights the balance between being proactive in identifying dangerous suspects and knowing when to prioritize the safety of the community,” SCV Sheriff’s Station said in a statement.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released, and no injuries were reported during the incident.

  1. It would be nice if KHTS could follow up on reports like this with the results after the arrest and if there is a conviction, etc. We the public believe that when someone is caught like this there will be justice. A charge, conviction and punishment. We deserve to know this. News reporting services seem like the best equipped to get and report this information. What say you KHTS?
