Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are investigating a Canyon Country shooting that was reported near Jakes Way on Sunday night.

At around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of a possible shooting off of Jakes Way in Canyon Country.

“There was a gunshot,” said Lt. James Royal with the SCV Station. “The deputies checked the area and there was no indication of any injuries.” 

After deputies arrived on scene, they determined that the gunshot had been fired into a nearby home, according to Royal.

Royal added that deputies were looking into reports of a white truck that was seen leaving the scene shortly after the incident to see if the two are connected.

The exact circumstances leading up to the incident are still under investigation.

Deputies were investigating the area as of 9:45 p.m. Sunday.
