Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the scene of a Newhall shooting Wednesday night, officials said.

UPDATE: (10:10 p.m.) At least three additional persons have been detained after exiting a home located near the corner of Walnut Avenue and 15th Street, making at least five people detained during the investigation of this incident, per officials on scene.
UPDATE: (9:44 p.m.) Deputies are continuing to investigate the scene of the shooting, and have closed the corner of Walnut Avenue and 15th Street to traffic.
Two suspects were detained by deputies near 9th Street and Newhall Avenue, just south of the initial incident soon after the reported shooting, officials said.
Around 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, emergency responders received multiple calls due to gunshots heard in a Newhall Neighborhood near 15th Street and Walnut Avenue, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD).
“We got a report of a gunshot wound, we’re staging,” said Supervisor Imy McBride with the LACoFD.
Although initial reports stated that there were multiple gunshot victims, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials could only confirm at least one gunshot victim was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.
“There was a shooting around 15th Street and Walnut in Newhall, we’re holding at the scene of the initial call,” said the Santa Clarita Watch Sgt. on duty.
Multiple witnesses reported hearing three gunshots around 9:00 p.m. Wednesday around the area of the initial call.
The gunshot victim experienced non-life threatening injuries, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
