Detective Jeff Burrow of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, spotted a man in the act of spray painting underneath a Canyon Country bridge, by Sierra Highway and Sandy Drive, officials reported Thursday.

Additional deputies were summoned to the riverbed, where the suspect was identified to be Ricardo Gomez, 23, a Canyon Country resident.

Gomez had spray painted the letters “ROVE” underneath the bridge, according to officials.

He was detained and arrested for felony vandalism.

Gomez reportedly admitted to similar tagging incidents dating back to February 2015. These prior tagging incidents are estimated to have caused over $10,000 in graffiti damages to the City of Santa Clarita.

Sheriff’s Station officials reported the arrest Thursday evening via Nixle, a crime reporting service that allows residents to receive crime reports from Sheriff’s Station zone leaders.

Sheriff’s Station officials offer several different ways to report crime, in addition to 911, or calling the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121. If someone wishes to remain anonymous, call “LA Crime Stoppers” by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477), or text the letters TIPLA plus the tip to CRIMES (274637,) or using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org/

  1. What beautiful artsmanship.

  2. He should be forced to pay for all damages; his gang should also be held accountable; and if he is here illegally, he should be deported.

  3. It is Sad this talented young man does not get a job in the art industry and stops
    “doing” damage to public places.
