An intoxicated man was arrested after he allegedly stole items from a Canyon Country store Tuesday.

Around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to the 18200 block of Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country, regarding a petty theft, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The suspect was determined to be under the influence of alcohol,” Miller said.

Oscar Escobar, 39, from Canyon Country was arrested on misdemeanor charges of drunk in public and refusing to leave the property. 

He was additionally arrested on felony petty theft charges due to prior theft convictions, according to Miller.

Escobar remains in custody without bail.
