DUI Suspect Charged With Felony After Injuring Passengers In 14 Freeway Crash

A Santa Clarita woman was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with felony DUI after her vehicle’s passengers were injured in a 14 Freeway crash, officials said.

Around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, first responders received reports of a traffic collision on the northbound 14 Freeway near Sand Canyon Road, said Officer Josh Greengard, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office.

“She was driving a black Chrysler 300 and collided with a Mazda SUV,” Greengard said.

As a result of the crash, passengers in her vehicle were injured, according to officials.

The number of patients who were injured in the crash, as well as their conditions, are unknown as of Thursday morning, according to officials.

The level of intoxication of the suspect is unknown pending a blood test, Greengard said.

Natalie Gonzalez, 21, of Santa Clarita, was arrested and charged with felony DUI, Greengard said.

“Anytime someone under the influence injures a person other than themself in a crash, they are charged with a felony,” Greengard said.

Gonzalez was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $20,000, according to arrest logs.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
