DUIs Reign Supreme In Santa Clarita Arrests Over Super Bowl Weekend

Santa Clarita’s law enforcement was keeping busy this Super Bowl weekend, though slightly less so than the previous week, with 24 arrests made.

This marked a minor decrease from the 28 arrests recorded the weekend before. While celebrations and festivities filled the city, Santa Clarita law enforcement remained vigilant.

The most dominant charge of the weekend was driving under the influence (DUI), with a total of 12 individuals taken into custody for impaired driving. Among these, one case involved a combination of both drugs and alcohol.

In addition to DUIs, there was one case of evading arrest where a suspect attempted to flee from law enforcement but was ultimately apprehended. Two arrests were made in connection with domestic violence incidents. One homeless man from Canyon Country was taken into custody for allegedly causing fear among the public.

There were three separate cases of battery, leading to arrests. Three individuals were charged with possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia. One driver without a valid license was arrested, and one suspect was charged with grand theft person for stealing property directly from another individual.

Of the total arrests, three were classified as felonies, while the remaining 21 were misdemeanors.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol Newhall Office attributed seven arrests, and deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station were responsible for 17.
