Final Weekend In February Ends With Multiple Drug, Alcohol-Related Arrests

The final weekend in February ended with nearly 20 drug- and alcohol-related arrests in Santa Clarita, including one person who was driving under the influence of almost three times the legal limit of alcohol.

A total of 19 arrests were made on drug- and alcohol-related charges, including 10 DUI charges and seven arrests for possession of controlled substances, according to records from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

One individual was arrested Saturday morning for allegedly driving under the influence of nearly three times the legal limit of alcohol in Canyon Country.

“Deputies patrolling during early morning hours Saturday spotted a vehicle making an illegal turn at a red light on Golden Triangle Road,” reads a Facebook post from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “The deputy conducted a traffic stop, and upon making contact with the male adult driver, he noticed the smell of alcohol and that the driver’s speech was slurred.”

The driver’s blood alcohol content level was determined to be .23, nearly three times the legal limit of .08, according to officials.

Upon further investigation, the deputy discovered that the man’s drivers license was suspended, and that he had prior convictions for DUI.

The deputy arrested the man, 24-year-old Alexander Weyermann, on multiple charges and transported him to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail. Bail was set at $100,000.
