An assault with a deadly weapon suspect was taken into custody on the 14 Freeway in Agua Dulce north of the Santa Clarita Valley on Wednesday after jumping out of his moving vehicle.

Around 1 p.m., officers with the Los Angeles Police Department, (LAPD) attempted to make a traffic stop on an assault with a deadly weapon suspect, according to officials.

The suspect did not stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

The chase went up the 5 Freeway before transitioning to the 14 Freeway northbound, according to officials.

The LAPD canceled the chase, however, California Highway Patrol, (CHP) officers were able to locate the suspect.

The pursuit went north up the 14 Freeway and exited at Pearblossom Highway in Palmdale before making a U-turn going back south.

The suspect then fled on foot at Agua Dulce Canyon Road.

“The suspect jumped out of the car as it was moving, rolled on the ground and jumped the guardrail,” said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office. “We took chase and caught him in the bushes.”

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
