A high-speed pursuit that began in Palmdale came to a stop in Santa Clarita Thursday afternoon, with two individuals detained by authorities.

The chase involved a black Toyota Prius registered out of Palmdale, according to California Highway Patrol Antelope Valley officials. The driver reportedly reached speeds exceeding 110 miles per hour while heading northbound on the 14 Freeway toward the Antelope Valley.

At one point, the suspect exited on Escondido Canyon Road and reversed direction, merging onto the southbound 14 Freeway and continuing back into the Santa Clarita Valley.

CHP units initiated a traffic stop as the suspect exited Soledad Canyon Road, where the vehicle came to a stop around 1:30 p.m. just north of Sand Canyon Road.

Two individuals inside the vehicle were detained without further incident. No injuries or collisions were reported during the pursuit.

The incident is under investigation. Further details, including the identities of the individuals detained and any potential charges, have not yet been released.
