A repeat offender identity theft suspect was taken into custody Sunday after he was found slumped over behind the wheel of a vehicle in Saugus.
Around 11:40 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the 28000 block of Newbird Drive in Saugus regarding a man slumped behind the wheel of a parked vehicle, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“As deputies arrived on scene, the male was observed exiting the vehicle,” Arriaga said. “They contacted the male and noticed he was caring a baggie of heroin and appeared disoriented.” During a search of his vehicle, deputies located a large amount of mail, checks, identification cards, drivers’ licenses and other documents which did not belong to the suspect, Arriaga said.
Deputies also located tools commonly used for mail theft.
“A records check also identified the male to have an active outstanding no bail warrant for his arrest,” Arriaga said.
Alexander Goldstone, 32, from Simi Valley, who already had a previous conviction of identity theft, was arrested for identity theft, possession of access card account information, possession of a counterfeit check and possession of personal identifying information, Arriaga added.
Goldstone was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail and remains in custody as of Thursday afternoon, Arriaga said.
