“Don’t come to Santa Clarita to commit crime,” deputies said Tuesday after a Lancaster woman was arrested for allegedly attempting to steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from a Canyon Country retail store.

Lashica Emerson, 49, of Lancaster, was arrested Tuesday after deputies say she attempted to leave a retail store in the 26400 block of Carl Boyer Drive with nearly $500 worth of unpaid merchandise.

With assistance from store loss prevention personnel, deputies located Emerson and took her into custody without incident, according to officials.

Authorities said further investigation revealed Emerson has multiple prior arrests related to theft incidents. 

She was booked on felony charges and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail.
