A Los Angeles man on probation was arrested after California Highway Patrol (CHP) found narcotics on him during a traffic stop Wednesday.

Around 12 p.m. Wednesday, CHP Newhall area officers conducted a traffic stop on a Gold Honda Accord on the southbound 5 Freeway south of Templin Highway north of Castaic, said Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

“Officers on scene determined the passenger… out of Los Angeles to be on felony probation,” Burgos-Lopez.

While conducting their investigation, officers located drugs on the passenger’s person.

Jose Lopez, 44, from Los Angeles was placed under arrest for violation of possession of a hard drug, a felony.

Lopez was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail.
