Macy’s Grand Theft Suspect, Three With Warrants Arrested In Valencia

A Macy’s grand theft suspect and three others wanted for warrants were all taken into custody Wednesday night in Valencia.

Around 7 p.m. Wednesday, Crime Prevention unit (CPU) deputies patrolling Valencia located a vehicle wanted in connection to a grand theft that occurred at Macy’s on the 24600 block of McBean Parkway earlier in the evening, said Deputy Kabrina Borbon, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“It had been reported over $1,500 worth of merchandise had been stolen,” Borbon said.

During the traffic stop, deputies learned the driver and two passengers had outstanding warrants for their arrests and were not connected with the theft of Macy’s, Borbon said.

The fourth passenger in the vehicle, Martin Huaman Chavez, 30, from Van Nuys, was arrested for the Macy’s grand theft, Borbon said.

Huaman Chavez and the three suspects wanted for their warrants were booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Huaman Chavez remains in custody as of Thursday morning, according to Borbon.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
