A man was arrested after he allegedly admitted to using nitrous oxide, while driving with teen passengers in Canyon Country Monday morning.
Around 1:30 a.m. Monday, a deputy patrolling near Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway in Canyon Country conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after the driver was suspected of being under the influence, according to Sheriff’s officials.
“During the stop, the deputy observed a tank and multiple balloons inside the vehicle, along with signs of impairment. The driver admitted to using nitrous oxide,” Sheriff’s officials said.
The man, who was in his 20s, had three teen passengers in the vehicle.
He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and child endangerment.
“Nitrous oxide can make you pass out, cut off oxygen to your brain and cause permanent damage, or death,” Sheriff’s officials said. “Thankfully, no one was hurt, but driving impaired could have had devastating consequences for the driver, his passengers or anyone else on the road. Stay safe, SCV. Never risk a life for a high.”
