Man Arrested After Breaking Into Home, Taking Shower

A burglary suspect was arrested after he was found “soaking wet” in a woman’s home that he allegedly broke into late Tuesday night.

Around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a reported burglary in the 25900 block of Sardinia Court in Valencia, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The victim, a female adult in her 70s, reported that an unknown male entered her residence through an unlocked back door,” Miller said. “Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect, who was soaking wet and appeared to have just exited the victim’s shower.”

Octavio Saldana, 44, of Newhall, was arrested on felony charges of burglary and misdemeanor charges of utility theft, Miller said.

“As deputies were bringing him into the station jail for booking, he allegedly became physically combative with deputies,” Miller said.

As a result, he was also booked on an additional felony charge of battery on a peace officer.

Saldana remains in custody on $50,000 bail.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
