A Santa Clarita man was arrested for false imprisonment after he allegedly prevented his wife from leaving the house during an argument on Sunday.

Around 9 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a fight between a married couple.

“The suspect allegedly threatened to harm the victim,” said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “When the victim attempted to leave the residence, the suspect physically blocked the front door, preventing her from exiting.”

Gelacio Acosta, 45, from Santa Clarita, was arrested for false imprisonment and for making criminal threats, according to Miller.

As of Monday, the suspect remains in custody with bail set at $50,000.
