A man who was found with drugs and guns in his car was arrested after he exposed a Santa Clarita deputy to fentanyl last Thursday.

Around 3 p.m. Thursday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Impact Team arrested a convicted felon who was found driving with drugs and guns in his vehicle near Bouquet Canyon Road and David Way in Saugus, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station..

The deputies who made the arrest were patrolling in Saugus when they saw the driver of the car violating vehicle code.

After instructing the driver to pull over, they took notice of drug paraphernalia in the car, according to Arriaga.

Deputies then searched the car, finding two guns, methamphetamine and fentanyl.

“One of the guns was loaded, and its serial number was destroyed,” Arriaga said.
During the search, one of the deputies was exposed to fentanyl and treated by medical personnel, but was not hospitalized.

Alec Bruce, 30, from Stevenson Ranch, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, a felony, Arriaga added.

Bruce was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station before being let out on bond.
