Man Points Gun At Brother In Castaic Attempted Robbery

A man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly pointed a gun at his brother during a Castaic attempted robbery.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday, deputies received reports of a robbery on the 31500 block of Castaic Road, in Castaic, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“During a verbal argument between the victim and his brother, the suspect produced a firearm and demanded money,” Arriaga said. “The suspect then hit the driver side door of the victim’s vehicle with the firearm causing approximately $1,000 in damages. The suspect proceeded to point the firearm at the victim while demanding money.”

The victim immediately drove to a safe location and called 911, according to Sheriff’s officials.

“Deputies contacted the suspect via cellphone and (he) agreed to meet on Castaic Lake Drive/Ridge Route Road in Castaic,” Arriaga said.

During a search of the suspect, deputies found a small baggie of methamphetamine inside his backpack, according to Sheriff’s officials.

“Deputies located and recovered the firearm along the 31000 block of Castaic Lake Drive, Castaic,” Arriaga said.

Martin Gonzalez, 28, from Castaic, was arrested for attempted robbery and possession of a controlled substance, Arriaga added.

Gonzalez was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station and remains in custody as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Arriaga.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
